The Nissan R390 GT1 was developed in 1997 for FIA GT and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Built to homologation standards, it featured a carbon-fibre chassis, a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing around 650 hp, and advanced aerodynamics for high-speed stability. Erik Comas drove one of the factory R390 GT1 entries, competing in the grueling Le Mans endurance race.
